About This Tea

Hojicha is made by roasting green tea leaves at high temperature, which removes most of the caffeine and transforms the flavour into something deeply comforting. The Imamura family at Seicha have been growing and crafting tea in the misty Kirishima highlands for generations β€” their clean mountain air and rich volcanic soil produce tea of exceptional quality.

The Origin Story

Grown by Farmer Kirishima,
Kagoshima

This tea comes from the southern foot of the Kirishima mountains in Kagoshima. The soil is volcanic, which gives the leaves a fuller body and a mineral quality that shows up in the finish. The farm started in 1967. The second generation runs it now. Over 30 hectares, JAS organic certified across all fields since 2000, no pesticides, no chemical fertilizers. They also run their own tencha facility for matcha.
